Just 210 km west of Sydney on the Great Western Highway over the Blue Mountains lies Bathurst, with a population of around 30,000.
It is both a fast growing region and Australia's oldest inland city.
The site was chosen in 1815 by Governor Macquarie and in 1851, gold was discovered leading to the first gold rush.
The town was named after Lord Bathurst, the British secretary of state for the colonies at the time.
Bathurst has retained examples of Colonial and Victorian architecture with the main streets being a mixture of old and new.
