Bankstown is a major business centre 20 km south west of the CBD with a population of around 168,000 residents.
The area was discovered by a Bass and Flinders expedition up the Georges River and was named after the famous botanist Sir Joseph Banks. The first land grants were allocated in 1798.
Today it is a thriving city of many diverse cultures and an important commercial and industrial centre.
Bankstown's advantage is its central location within the Sydney metropolitan area, impressive road and rail infrastructure, strong existing industrial base, skilled workforce, good education facilities and its affordable lifestyle and environment.
