A little about Lindfield. Lindfield and its extension to West Lindfield and East Lindfield, is located in the heart of Sydney’s scenic Upper North Shore within the Ku-ring-gai Council. Rich in history and holding a strong sense of community, Lindfield enjoys a cosmopolitan atmosphere with its many cafes, restaurants and boutique stores. Blessed with picturesque tree-lined streets, and convenient to many of the North Shore’s most well-respected schools, its location and prestige denote the suburbs popularity.
It is believed that the name ‘Lindfield’ was borrowed from the small town of Lindfield in Sussex, England. In 1884, after settling in Australia from England, Francis John List, built and named a delightful cottage, ‘Lindfield’, in appreciation of his hometown. It was then adopted as a station name when the North Shore Railway line was developed. The cottage, although relocated 70 years ago, is still in existence under a heritage order in Narrabeen.
