Attractions

To the north, Diamond Island is joined to the mainland (at low tide) by the Penguin Sandbar where fairy penguins can be viewed at night.

Whaler’s Lookout provides good views of the spectacular coastline.

Bicheno has two supermarkets, a chemist, two hotels, one bakery, a 24 hour ATM machine, numerous motels and restaurants, an extremely well stocked hardware store two service stations, a Post Office and a newsagency with full ANZ banking facilities, so all life’s necessities are readily available.

Local carriers deliver the unusual or heavy items that come from Launceston and the Redline Bus also has a local depot for parcel pick-up and delivery.

Daily Coach services are available to Launceston and Hobart. A Community Bus is also available.A schoolbus transport highschoolers to St Marys District High.
