Location Description

Also known as the ’Jacaranda City’, Grafton is 665 km north of Sydney on the Pacific Highway and lies on the River Clarence.

Grafton has a population of around 18,500.

Grafton is famous for its historic colonial buildings, wide tree-lined streets and many parks as well as nearby picturesque beaches and mountains.

After the region was discovered by escaped convicts, Grafton began as a port and shipbuilding region supporting the emerging timber industry.

Governor Fitzroy named Grafton after his Grandfather, the Duke of Grafton.

Today, it’s an area of rich soils ideal for the dairy and sugar cane industries supporting the area along with other industries including fishing, pigs and cattle.
