Locality Guide - Phillip ACT

Location Description

Established in 1962 and positioned in the geographic centre of Canberra, Phillip was one of the first of Canberra's 'new' towns.

Today, it has its own town centre and is a major employment area for government and retail.

Around 7,200 people live in the suburbs of Chifley, Lyons, O'Malley, Phillip, Isaacs, Garran, Hughes, Pearce, Mawson, Torrens and Farrer.

Like most of Canberra, these suburbs are named after influential figures in our history.
