Our Office - Servicing Maryborough Real Estate and Surrounds

Welcome to Maryborough!

With a population of approximately 32,000, the historic riverside City of Maryborough is the commercial centre of the Fraser Coast.

Situated an easy 3 hour drive north of Brisbane, just over an hour from Noosa and the Sunshine Coast, a 1 hour drive north to Bundaberg, and about 35 minutes from Hervey Bay.

Settled in 1847 and proclaimed a City in 1905, Maryborough was the port for wool, timber and sugar industries and the supply centre for the Gympie goldfields. Some 22,000 migrants entered Australia directly from Europe by sailing ship through the Port of Maryborough from 1859.

The Mary River is unique in that it flows from south to north with its headwaters near the Sunshine Coast hinterland and its mouth at River Heads just south of Hervey Bay.

Maryborough is also a manufacturing town and the proud birthplace of the Tilt Train.

Maryborough has a significant historical precinct and has become a City of regional influence. With golden memories of the past, a bright future, modern facilities, 19th century charm and friendly people, Maryborough is a great place to live, raise a family, establish a business or retire.

 Attractions

There’s never a dull moment in Maryborough!  A vast array of special events, whether it’s sporting fixtures, historical tours, world class entertainment at the Brolga Theatre or just a picnic in the park, there’s always something happening!

The Heritage Walk takes in 28 historic buildings in the CBD.  Splendid old houses, in the classic timber 'Queenslander' design, are a legacy of the many European immigrants who came to the area in the 1800s.

The city comes alive each Thursday on market day, with stalls lining the streets in the CBD.  Fresh home grown fruit and vegetables, plants of all varieties, home made craft, tools – you’ll always get a bargain on market day!

Every month the markets are themed for the public's entertainment, with various activities taking place on the Town Hall grounds.

Why not experience a train trip on the Mary Ann which operates every Thursday and don't miss the firing of the time cannon by the Town Crier and Mary Heritage on the Town Hall Green at 1pm.

Take a ghost tour, see Mary Poppins, enjoy a show, visit one of Maryborough’s museums or drop in to the Heritage Centre and trace your family tree!

Shopping

Station Square Shopping Centre is just a short stroll from the CBD and contains a large supermarket, a variety of specialty shops and major chain stores plus a food court.  Maryborough Plaza, situated on the fringe of the business centre offers two supermarkets, variety stores and a cinema complex.

The centre of town boasts an assortment of specialty stores and national franchises, interspersed with modern cafes complemented by the old world charm of antique and collectables shops.

Transport

Local bus services run between Hervey Bay and Maryborough and both Greyhound and McCafferty's coaches stop at Maryborough.

Daily Qantaslink flights to Brisbane from Fraser Coast Airport are available with bus links to Maryborough City.

Northbound and southbound Queensland Rail trains stop at Maryborough West with free coach connections to Maryborough Coach Depot and Centro Coach Depot at Hervey Bay.

Medical

There are a number of medical facilities in the region, both public and private.
Education

Schooling facilities are numerous and offer a high standard of education for all ages.

Wide Bay Institute of TAFE has campuses in Maryborough, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay and a vast range of courses are offered at the University of Southern Queensland in Hervey Bay.

Sport

Superb sporting amenities, one of Queensland’s best Golf Courses and an excellent equestrian centre provide locals and visitors alike with first class facilities, whatever sport they are involved in.

Friendly, comfortable and affordable, a great place to live, work and play.....it's a lifestyle you’ll love.
