Add Value to Your Property With Street Appeal

When putting your house on the market it is crucial to maximise all of your home's assets. Your property may boast a stunning kitchen renovation or just serious potential, but a lack of vision can deter buyers from venturing past the front gate.

First impressions are lasting, so if you are looking to sell your property it is important to consider your home's street appeal.

Entice buyers with a few simple improvements.

Spruce It Up

If you haven't used the water blaster since you moved in, this is the perfect time to do so. Mould and mildew on exterior walls can make a house look dingy and bordering on derelict.

Water blasting can be incredibly satisfying if  you can find that bright white paint underneath the grime.

If the issue is that the paint is beginning to peel off the walls then a lick of colour is a must. Decide what works with the age and era of your home and fits in with the surrounding houses. Whether it is classic white or warm yellow, your home will emerge looking brand new.

There are also inexpensive ways to make your house stand out from the rest of the street. Paint the front door red, add some shiny new trappings or install a quirky letterbox. The options are endless.

Go Green

A well kept and green garden is a buyers dream. This means ensuring the front of your home is not littered with dead plants or covered in an overgrown jungle. If you do not have much space available, consider planting flowers or box hedging or investing in potted topiaries.

On the contrary, if your garden is suffering from neglect, spend an afternoon with the hedge clippers or lawn-mower and return your garden to its former glory. Weed out all those unwanted creepers growing in the cracks and crevices.

You could also consider fencing your property, as it can add depth. This can help to add privacy to your home, something extremely beneficial if the neighbour's house is particularly close.

Illuminate

People considering buying a property often drive by before they decide to venture indoors. Due to people's schedules it is not uncommon for this to occur in the evening after work. Outdoor lighting is a perfect way to bring a sense of warmth and comfort to your property at night.

Street lighting can often be dim, so adding porch or garden lighting is a must. Avoid down lights directly projected onto the house as this might not showcase the best angle of your home.

You could also get creative with lighting. Make sure to accentuate certain features visible to the kerbside?, such as stained glass windows, intricate landscaping or a water feature.
