Economic expansion requires skilled workers

March 15, 2012

In order to promote economic growth, attract commercial property investment and inspire foreign trade, it is necessary to have a qualified workforce capable of fostering expansion.

Building an efficient business takes hard work, dedication and skill that often come from experience and education.

With this in mind, the Australian government has launched a reform to counter a skills shortage in the country.

Senator Chris Evans explained the current challenge: "Jobs for more highly-skilled Australians are growing at 2.5 times the rate of other jobs but the pool of workers with the skills needed for these jobs is not keeping pace."

The Vocational Education and Training program will undergo major changes, including the increase in educational subsidies.

Senator Evans was confident in the goals of the initiative: "Put simply, skills determine access to jobs and can transform lives."

A productive workforce can support the economy through commercial and property investment that filters through the local community.
