WA school earmarked for redevelopment

May 16, 2012

Demand for decent schools is high up on the agenda for families when they go in search of residential properties, so one area of Western Australia could prove especially popular over the coming months.

Willetton Senior High School, one of the biggest and best performing facilities in the state, is to undergo extensive refurbishments to improve facilities.

The school has been earmarked for $32.5 million of new and redeveloped facilities in the State Budget, with construction work expected to be completed by 2015.

State premier Colin Barnett commented: "Stage one will provide for the construction of a new science block suited to the high standard of science education at the school, complete with the most up-to-date science and technology equipment."

The second stage of development will include a review of the current library, administration and mathematics buildings.

Another area that may attract families looking at buying a house is the eastern suburbs of Perth, as Aveley Primary School was officially opened in recent days.

The school boasts the latest e-library facilities, which will enable teachers to use electronic whiteboards for a more interactive experience.
