New WA schools open south of Perth

June 19, 2012

The Western Australia education sector has received a significant boost with the inaugural opening of two new schools south of Perth.

Families interested in buying residential property on the west coast may be enticed to the growing area of Mandurah, which is rapidly gaining popularity as a family friendly region.

Education minister Liz Constable said the opening of Meadow Springs Primary School and Meadow Springs Education Support Centre earlier this year was a significant milestone for the Mandurah area, which is located approximately 70 km south of Perth.

"The Mandurah area is expanding rapidly, with many new housing developments attracting families with young children, and we are committed to meeting the needs of growing communities," Ms Constable explained.

The school and education centre received more than $16 million in funding towards the building of 12 classrooms, dental office and other amenities.

"Children here have access to world-class facilities and cutting-edge technology," Ms Constable said.

The opening of the new schools and influx of affordable housing developments, combined with the location of all amenities and proximity to the train network, have resulted in the surge of Mandurah's popularity with family homeowners.
