New parks may boost appeal for young families
It's no secret that when you buy or rent property, there are a number of important things to bear in mind - especially if you have a young family.
You'll want to be close to plenty of kid-friendly amenities, as well as good local schools and safe places to play.
The City of Sydney has announced that a Waterloo playground has been given a child-friendly makeover, which will certainly boost its appeal among the hundreds of locals who use the site on a daily basis.
Situated next to Our Lady of Mount Carmel primary school, the playground now features a new climbing frame, an orange embankment slide, improved swings and a bouncing seesaw, among other additions.
The new facilities have been warmly welcomed by local parents and kids alike. One Waterloo mum, Aoife O'Donohoe, says her two daughters love the new space.
She said: "It's a great place for the kids to run-off steam after classes, and the adults - thanks to the relocated fig tree - have plenty of shade to relax and catch-up while the kids enjoy the brand-new play equipment."
The park is just one of 330 small green spaces - many of which include playgrounds - located within and around Sydney's inner-city suburbs.
Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore asserts that the city identifies the parks that are most in need every year and makes improvements accordingly.
