Residential property: The perfect playground

April 10, 2012

If you're a parent looking to buy or rent residential property, one key consideration is amenities for your young family.

From places for little ones to play outside to proximity to schools and community centres, there are plenty of things for parents to think about when renting or buying a home in new community.

The City of Sydney is inviting local parents to contribute their ideas for the perfect children's playground ahead of a major redevelopment and upgrade planned for Fitzroy Gardens in Kings Cross.

Instilling a sense of community in even the youngest residents is an important priority for City of Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore, who is planning to update the dated playground.

The current play equipment in Fitzroy Gardens is popular among local families, but as it was fitted in the 1990s, it is now in need of an upgrade.

"We want ideas from parents and children so we can build something that will give the children from the neighbourhood a place that's their own, a place that's right for them," Moore said.

Kids, mums and dads who live in the area are encouraged to share their thoughts at the City of Sydney stall at the Kings Cross Saturday markets on May 5.
