Open up your rental options with these three tips

March 28, 2012

If you are looking to rent a house, you will know that finding what you want is not always easy.

Working within a budget and a specific location can limit the supply of rental properties available to you.

However, there are ways to expand your search and find real estate that may not be listed on the public market.

Three ways to accomplish this include enlisting the services of a real estate agent, browsing online forums and building a network.

Real estate agent

An agent often has access to properties before they even hit the market and if they are working with you, can often give you a head start.

Online forums

Beyond social networking, the internet offers real estate seekers a chance to connect. By posting an ad stating exactly what you want, property owners who prefer to find tenants rather than vice versa can contact you if their residential property suits your needs.

Building a network

Becoming involved in the community in which you want to live can open up many doors, simply by getting to know people in the neighbourhood. A friend of a friend might have exactly what you're looking for.
