Aussies appreciate their outdoors
A recent survey commissioned by the Property Council of Australia has shown four out of five residents believe their city has a great range of outdoor recreational facilities.
The survey, undertaken by Auspoll, surveyed more than 5000 residents across Australia’s cities on a number of lifestyle issues.
Eighty per cent of respondents believed their city had a wide range of outdoor environments, with little disparity between the top performing city, Canberra (84% agreed) and the lowest performing, Darwin (77% agreed).
Respondents likewise believed their city hosted attractive natural environments with 79% agreeing to the proposition. Ninety per cent of Hobart locals believed their natural surrounds were highly attractive.
Canberra residents were most proud of their city’s educational facilities, while Melburnians believe their home is Australia’s culture capital, with 83% believing they had a vibrant cultural scene, slightly nudging out Sydney (80%).
In terms of housing, locals in the New South Wales regional centres of Wollongong and Newcastle were most pleased with the diversity of their housing options.
Canberrans were also most proud of their city’s cleanliness and appearance.
