Flood assistance seminars for QLD homeowners
Owners of residential property in the flood affected Wide Bay-Burnett region are encouraged to attend free rebuilding information sessions next week.
Queensland minister for housing and public works Tim Mander said the Building Services Authority (BSA) meetings will help homeowners understand the property repair and rebuilding process.
The minister went on to say that the seminars will provide vital information about restoration work, including when to begin repairs and safe asbestos removal.
"Best practice information will be provided by building experts from the BSA and Timber Queensland, as well as asbestos experts from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland," Mr Mander explained.
The sessions will take place at Bundaberg's Brothers Sports Club Auditorium on Takalvan Street at 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on February 11.
The announcement comes after the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) urged tenants in flood-affected rental properties to get in touch with their property agents.
REIQ chief executive officer Anton Kardash said keeping the lines of communication open is vital to ensure that any major issues can be actioned.
"The REIQ has provided advice and information to its membership on the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants in emergency situations such as these," Mr Kardash explained.
