Property buying trends revealed
Australians will check out an average of 21 homes before settling on a residential property purchase, a recent survey has revealed.
According to the 2012 Mortgage Choice Recent First Homeownership Survey, 25 per cent of people looked at between 11 and 20 properties before signing on the dotted line, while 44 per cent made a decision after viewing ten or less dwellings.
Close to one quarter (23 per cent) of survey respondents said they checked out between 21 and 50 real estate options, with eight per cent of people admitting they saw more than 50 homes.
Purchasing property is the biggest financial investment that most people will make in their lifetimes, therefore it is important to look at all your options before breaking into the market - sentiment that is reflected in the Australian housing sector, Mortgage Choice spokesperson Belinda Williamson remarked.
"The fact that people are viewing so many properties before making a purchase is a positive - it makes sense to invest the appropriate amount of time into researching and viewing potential properties to make sure you are happy with the final decision," Ms Williamson explained.
