Moreton Bay to welcome billion-dollar transport boost
There are a number of factors that are taken into account when deciding where to purchase residential property - such as proximity of schools, vital amenities and employment opportunities.
With this in mind, residents around the Moreton Bay region are set to benefit from a major infrastructure project earmarked for the area, with the construction of a new rail line connecting with Brisbane's rail network.
The $1.147 billion Moreton Bay Rail Link, which is in its final stage of the selection process, will see a new heavy passenger rail line built between Petrie and Kippa-Ring, with stations at Murrumba Downs, Mango Hill, Kallangur, Mango Hill East and Rothwell.
Moreton Bay Regional Council mayor Allan Sutherland said the billion-dollar project is a major boon for local residents, with it supporting one of Australia's fastest growing urban areas.
"This is crucial infrastructure that will serve the region's booming population for decades to come and drive additional investment," Mr Sutherland said.
Tenderers for the rail link have been shortlisted from four to two, with final designs and cost proposals due by May.
