WA State Budget makes provisions for children and families
A number of provisions for families and children have been unveiled in Western Australia's State Budget, which could prove good news for first time buyers heading to the state.
Among the plans is the investment of $58.5 million in early childhood health care over the next four years, while an equipment replacement program is set to be extended.
Treasurer Christian Porter explained that this extensive investment would lead to the widespread expansion of community child health services across Western Australia.
"Community child health services play a vital role in preventing chronic disease, so this is a targeted project to address real issues facing families in accessing health care," he commented.
Efforts have been made over the last four years to recruit more staff in physiotherapy, speech pathology and occupational therapy.
Other provisions announced in the Budget include eight new schools being built in the state alongside new education initiatives as well as parent and child centres.
Figures show that public schools received a record 7,100 extra students this year, which was around 3,800 more than expected, creating the need for greater funding to be made available.
