This may be particularly important if you are hoping to sell your property in the near future.
There aren't quite so many green spots around central cities as there are on rural properties, but whatever your garden area, here are some tips from Turf Australia to help you prepare your green oasis for winter.
One of the more fun ideas is to get out there with a pitchfork or garden fork, and aerate the ground, leaving little holes for water and fertiliser to get through. Be sure to go over any high-use areas that might be more compacted - like the area around the BBQ or lawn chair.
An easy one is to lift the height of the mower blades so that when its growth begins to slow, the grass will handle the wear better.
Give your lawn a nutritious feast with a spray on 'feed and weed' formula that you can click on to your hose and water as usual.
If you're in a particularly frosty area, let your grass grow long and use a spray on frost protector to make sure your lawn stays healthy through the season and is ready for next summer!
