Residential real estate building opens in South Australia
A new residential real estate building has opened in South Australia, offering a range of apartment options.
The 17-storey development on 102 Waymouth Street, Adelaide, will provide affordable home ownership, private rentals, public housing and commercial outlets.
Entitled UNO Apartments, the building is an award-winning concept that includes various social spaces to boost social cohesion and encourage the growth of a vibrant community.
Premier Jay Weatherill said attracting new people to the city is "critical" for the local economy.
"These apartments represent a new approach to creating sustainable mixed communities and they will be a fantastic example of a modern, urban community, where an interesting, diverse mix of people will all feel safe and welcome," he explained.
Federal minister for housing and homelessness Mark Butler said the Commonwealth has committed $8 million for the construction of UNO Apartments as part of its drive to create more affordable residential property.
"This is the first time our city has seen one development which brings together a combination of affordable home ownership, affordable private rental, public housing and a homelessness service," he stated.
The project also created a number of jobs in the region during the construction phase.
UNO Apartments has received a number of industry accolades, such as the Best High Density Housing award and the Urban Development Institute of Australia's President's Award.
