New traffic signals for Baxter residents
Whether you own or rent property in Victoria, one of the most important considerations for any resident is their proximity to transport links, as well as local amenities.
Safety considerations for walkers and cyclists are particularly important, which is why news of a series of road improvements is likely to be warmly welcomed by residents of Baxter.
New pedestrian traffic signals at Baxter-Tooradin Road will be the first step of the new scheme, while further improvements are expected to follow in the second half of the year, according to the Victoria government.
Other local upgrades planned as part of the Peninsula Link project include a new footpath connecting the north side of the road with Stotts Lane, as well as a new on-road bicycle lane covering the same distance.
There will also be an improved connection to the 25-kilometre Peninsula Link Trail.
"Big projects like Peninsula Link can have an impact on the community so it is good to see benefits like the pedestrian signals finally become a reality," said Terry Mulder, Victoria's minister for roads.
He added: " People walking or riding their bikes will benefit greatly from these new traffic signals, which will be installed near the Baxter shops over the next couple of months."Nwq
