Fiona Stanley Hospital to open in 2014
Residential property dwellers in Perth will benefit from improved healthcare services when the $2 billion Fiona Stanley hospital opens its doors in 2014.
Updating the project's progress this week (October 1), state acting minister for health Troy Buswell said West Australians would have access to state-of-the-art medical facilities within 18 months.
"Most of the building infrastructure is finished so work is now starting on the fit-out of internal clinical areas and the significant landscaping program, with planting being established across the entire site," Mr Buswell explained.
"In line with this development is the creation of a high-tech information and communication technology solution, which will put Fiona Stanley Hospital at the forefront of innovation in healthcare."
House hunters looking to purchase a property in the Perth region may be attracted to the growing Murdoch area which is likely to boom with the multibillion-dollar hospital investment.
The new facility, which will cover the size of four city blocks, will be a major boon for the Western Australia capital, providing 783 beds, as well 140 rehabilitation spaces.
Mr Buswell said the hospital will also comprise a 30-bed mental healthcare building, pathology, education and support areas and integrated public transport facilities.
