New highway to connect Perth and Darwin
Buying a house is a big financial commitment and there are a number of considerations to be taken into account when deciding on the right property.
Buyers looking to purchase property in rural parts of Western Australia may be interested by a multi-million highway project earmarked for the state.
The state government has committed $8 million to preliminary work on the project, which will see a highway connection from Perth to Darwin.
Western Australia planning minister John Day said the new highway linking the state with the Northern Territory was a top priority for the government.
He commented: "As well as providing a more direct link between WA and the Northern Territory, the highway will also become an important arterial road in the rapidly growing north-east corridor."
"The road concept and reservation have been designed to minimise overall environmental impacts, the number of residences directly impact, and seeks to curtail land severance where possible."
Mr Day said the state would seek funding support for the project from the Federal government in the next round of the National Building Program in 2014-15.
