Technology amps up in Victoria

February 17, 2012

It was announced today (February 17) that New Zealand company SilverStripe has decided to set up its Australian headquarters in Victoria, which will eventually create up to 50 skilled labour positions to the state.

Minister of technology Gordon Rich-Phillips said: "SilverStripe’s decision to establish its Australian headquarters in Victoria represents a boost for our state’s reputation as a leading technology hub and will deliver significant direct and indirect economic benefits."

The developments may inspire residential property investment in the area, as recent news has seen several announcements about technological expansion in Melbourne and Victoria.

Destination Melbourne launched a smartphone and tablet-friendly Visitor's Guide just days ago. Shortly after, the Melbourne city council announced a pilot version of an interactive digital map to get around the city, making it easier to connect businesses, shops and restaurants.

Gordon Rich-Phillips also just confirmed the expansion of another technology company into Victoria, which will bring hundreds of more jobs.

Digital Realty will build two new data centres in Melbourne's west, a project expected to be worth roughly $365 million dollars to the local communities.
