History; The house dates from the 1850’s when it was the home of Nathan Lazarus, a cabinetmaker by trade. Nathan was a civic-minded person and in 1891 he was elected Mayor of Queanbeyan.
The original cottage is typical of a late Victorian Cottage through its steep Gothic Style hipped roof of corrugated iron and the original rendered brick. This home is one of the few that remains of that period throughout the district.

Queanbeyan is a city of 28,000 people located on the Queanbeyan River 291 km south-west of Sydney via Tarago and Bungendore and 18 km south-east of the centre of Canberra.
