Take a little time to prepare your house for sale.Outside – Walk outside, how does the outside of your home present?
- Check the roof and guttering.
- Prepare the garden so that it looks at its best.
Inside – Once your home is on the market you are living in a show room.
- Make sure the house is spotless.
- The bathroom and the kitchen are the rooms that buyers look at most so ensure they are at their best.
- Clean out all your clutter. Less clutter gives the impression of more room.
During the inspection
- Natural light is best – open the curtains to let in the light and the view.
- Make sure all electric light blubs are working.
- Take the dog for a walk.
- Ensure the carpet and furnishings are free of pet hair.
- De-personalise your home (eg. remove family photos and the kids paintings from the front of the fridge), this makes it easier for potential buyers to image your house as their home.
- Other added extras like a vase of flowers or the smell of baking can help make potential buyers feel that this could be their new home.
