Way back in 1890 one of Swan Hill's early luminaries, John Gray, commenced the first land agency in North West Victoria, trading as John Gray & Son. John Gray was also the first Member of the Victorian Parliament for the district; was the first President of the Shire of Swan Hill and was widely regarded as a driving force in the early progress of the district.

The Gray family owned the business through two World Wars, the Great Depression, Australia's conversion to decimal currency and the advent of computers. 

However, after 3 generations of family ownership, John Noel Gray (Grandson of the founder) sold John Gray & Son to John Monahan, himself the grandson of one of Swan Hill's early land agents. This wealth of history and industry involvement was reinforced when the business franchised with LJ Hooker in 1984 in the face of the rapid transformation of the real estate industry from one based on localised knowledge alone to one focused on customer service, information technology and sophisticated marketing strategies. 

Today the office is led by John Monahan OAM, a real estate professional with over 30 years experience in the local real estate industry. The sales team has over 70 years combined real estate experience and includes Darren Scarce, Colin Balcam and Nathan Quick. 

This team has the experience and expertise to service all classes of real estate transacted in the district and prides itself on delivering high quality, timely service such to ensure all clients and customers of LJ Hooker Swan Hill achieve their desired outcomes.
