Week Five: Does Tahnee have what it takes?
Just five weeks into her internship, LJ Hooker’s Million Dollar Intern, Tahnee Barnes is going from strength to strength according to LJ Hooker Double Bay’s Bill Malouf.
The number one agent and Million Dollar Intern mentor said Ms Barnes has followed his advice to the letter and is showing great signs.
“I told [Tahnee] to go and get a scrapbook and cut out every individual ad for a one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom unit because unless you’ve got some product knowledge in this area or any area, you’re just wasting your time,” Mr Malouf explains.
“She goes through the unit, I’ve asked her to write down what she thought it would sell for, follow the agent that’s handling that property, go to the auction and then write down what it sold for.
“I’ve also told her to be sociable, so go out, if you’re having lunch don’t have lunch at the very same restaurant, if you’re having a cup of coffee go out and when you pay for your coffee leave your business card there, you never know where that referral’s going to come from.
“I’m happy with exactly what she’s doing because she’s thinking ahead of the game and she’s getting involved.”
But does she have what it takes to be a prestige real estate agent?
“Her tenacity suggests to me that she can’t be flustered, which I think is important, she’s got the drive. Now it’s a case of testing the will and seeing when rejection comes, has she got the capacity to just push the rejection aside and just keep on working through it,” Mr Malouf said.
“I’ve got a good feeling about her. She is willing to learn, she is willing to listen, and that’s very, very important. I think that she’s got the drive.”
However Ms Barnes isn’t getting a head of herself opting to take each day and week as they come, but one thing she is certain of is that real estate is definitely her dream career.
“So far in my internship, I’ve met all these fantastic people from across the country, and it’s just opened my eyes and cemented that LJ Hooker and real estate is where I want to be.”
