Two new conservation parks in the Northern Territory spanning more than one million hectares will boost the region's economy.

Territory minister for environment Karl Hampton said the significant job creation in the region would be a knock-on effect of the new world class marine and national parks.

With Northern Territory's employment sector to benefit from the parks, those looking at buying a house may be attracted to the region.

The Limmen National Park and Limmen Bight Marine Park will add one million hectares to the territory's natural space - boosting marine conservation by 30 per cent.

"It will create a world class national park, creating a conservation area connecting land to the ocean and protecting our beautiful territory outback for generation to come," Northern Territory chief minister Paul Henderson said.

The additional parks have already instigated tourism infrastructure investment, including camping facilities at Tomato Island.

"Limmen National Park will also provide new job opportunities in the region including through increased tourism, more conservation projects and new mining enterprises," Mr Hampton explained.

The two parks are the most significant addition to the territory's parks estate in more than ten years.
