Building a new home is a huge project that requires your utmost commitment and determination.
Meticulous planning must be carried out to ensure smooth operation of the construction of your new residential real estate.
And even with preparation, hidden and unexpected costs can often compromise well thought-out plans, which could lead to the delay of your anticipated move-in date.
Housing Industry Association (HIA) executive director David Bare identified one of those costs as infrastructure funding.
"A major barrier to achieving sustained and affordable housing supply has been the proliferation of the ‘user pays’ approach to funding physical and social infrastructure," he said.

Minister for planning and infrastructure Brad Hazzard has been considering alternatives such as burden sharing among the community, based on the logic that if everyone benefits, everyone should pay.
The HIA welcomes the movement, noting that infrastructure is enjoyed by all - including future generations - and should not be funded solely by new home buyers.
