Property investors who own holiday rental properties in New South Wales may wish to take a closer look at the new Holiday Rental Code of Conduct - a self-regulating code established in partnership with real estate and holiday rental bodies.

The code of conduct, which was announced on March 30, was drafted by industry stakeholders, as well as local councils, government agencies and the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW).

According to the REINSW, the code represents an important document that protects property owners, communities and consumers and ensures the effective management of holiday rental properties.

Through effective and responsible self-regulation, rental property owners will be better equipped to address a number of factors, including car parking, noise, rubbish disposal and guest overcrowding.

"The new Code recognises that holiday rental dwellings make a positive contribution to local tourism and communities," the REINSW asserted.

"As such, it is vital that they are managed effectively so as to minimise any adverse social or environmental impacts."

Investors may wish to take property management to the next level by attending the REINSW's upcoming Property Management Conference on May 17.

The event will be held at the Sydney Marriott Hotel.
