The Northern Territory continues to prepare itself for an economic boom stemming from the resource sector.

Investment into residential property in the state may be a wise decision - lucrative contracts flow to the region and recent government announcements indicate a need to fill labour positions.

NT minister for business and employment Delia Lawrie boasted about the low unemployment rate in the state and encouraged job seekers to come to the Northern Territory. There is even a migration agreement in negotiation that would bring in foreign workers to keep up with the demand.

Perhaps locals can see the opportunity and are preparing for the future - just today (February 23 2012) it was announced that record numbers of students enrolled into Charles Darwin University.

Chief minister Paul Henderson was pleased to report the 17 per cent increase from the previous year.

He said: "We’re committed to growing our local workforce to ensure Territorians can make the most of world class jobs opportunities here in the Territory on major projects like the Ichthys project."
