Owners and tenants unsure of usual procedures to handle building defects and maintenance problems may be interested in an upcoming workshop in Sydney.
A forum to discuss changes introduced last year to the Home Building Act will be taking place at Customs House this Friday (March 16) from 18:00 - 19:30 and will cover common difficulties faced with apartment quality.
Many Sydneysiders have shifted towards choosing apartment residential property over traditional housing. According to Sydney City Council, three-quarters of residents now live in apartments and the numbers are increasing.
Rise & Shine: the future of strata in the city will feature stakeholders in the property industry, ranging from lawyers to academics, to address the management of building defect issues.
Lord mayor Clover Moore explained the goals of the event, "This forum aims to inform our growing community of apartment residents of some of the rights, obligations and pitfalls".
The forum will be mediated by architect Phil Briggs and address major concerns presented by the community.
