A survey recently conducted by The Advertiser and published on adelaidenow has revealed what South Australians really want from their residential property.
Two-thirds of the 1476 respondents said their dream property in South Australia would be situated in the Adelaide metropolitan area, with just one third opting for the country option.
They rated the walking distance to the pub as more important than the walking distance to a nearby school, however the distance to the park was regarded more highly than the trip to the supermarket.
Over 90 per cent of South Australians showed their true love of the outdoors by opting for either a big garden to play with or a medium sized one.
However the votes for the ideal house signalled the desire for solar electricity over the wish for a swimming pool - but only just.
When it came to buying a house with added luxuries, a fast internet connection was more important than pay TV, a home cinema, a pizza oven, a room-to-room stereo system and a wired-in computer server combined.
The Real Estate Institute of South Australia insists on doing your research and knowing what you want and what to expect when buying a home or rental property.
You might not manage to tick every single box, but a wishlist of your dream home is a great place to start.
