Re-thinking your outdoor spaces and investing in green areas can improve the value of your home when you go to sell your property, according to Turf Australia.
The not-for-profit organisation is extolling the benefits for the eco-system when home owners make an effort to grow plants and greenery on their property.
"Surrounding the home with natural turf increases property value and aesthetic appeal but it also ensures you're doing your bit towards environmental sustainability," said Turf Australia spokesperson Meredith Kirton.
Ms Kirton said that there are plenty of ways to help the environment as you increase the value of your residential property.
"Even if you are an urban dweller, you can adapt your outdoor area using turf and natural materials in plant boxes, skirting or even vertical gardens which are becoming increasingly popular," she explained.
House price growth in early 2013 has so far cooled off according to figures from the Housing Industry Association, so taking the initiative and greening your home could be a great way to improve the value of your property.
