The Western Australian government is calling on developers to take on several major residential property projects in the Pilbara.

State lands minister Brendon Grylls said the release of three lots in South Hedland's town centre poses significant opportunity for local businesses and investors to build multiple dwellings.

"The Liberal National government is creating opportunities like this for local businesses to invest and work in their own community and this is central to the revitalisation of Pilbara's Port City into a place capable of supporting 50,000 permanent residents," Mr Grylls explained.

"These sites are in a prime location near the Hedland Health Campus, aquatic centre and the newly completed town centre."

Mr Grylls said the potential medium-density developments will flood the region with more residential real estate opportunities, while also offering people an "urban apartment lifestyle."

Offers for the three lots, which range in size from 1,586 sq m to 5,492 sq m, close on February 14.

The government's announcement comes after figures reveal a number of Western Australia's mining regions are experiencing record growth in house prices.

According to RP Data, the median house price in Baynton jumped a massive 900 per cent over the last decade, while Port Hedland saw a 500 per cent increase and Dampier recorded a 250 per cent surge in the same time period.
