LJ Hooker agent gives high school students internet access to learn from home

When students from Riverstone High School packed up their textbooks as they prepared to continue their schoolwork from home, the school learnt several students had limited access to the internet, which would restrict their ability to learn.

The school reached out to the community to see if anyone could help those students who needed internet access for their learning device, and LJ Hooker sales agent Sanjeev Kumar responded to the call.

"Sometimes we take what we have for granted," Mr Kumar said. "Riverstone High School identified 10 families that had limited access to the internet for the child's learning devices. The Deputy Principal reached out to my business, and with a bit of luck we were able to source 10 USB dongles which will help the families access the internet so their children can continue learning online."

The school was thankful for Mr Kumar and his team at for their generosity. Since Mr Kumar launched his LJ Hooker business in February, he has worked to build a strong relationship with the school and the community.

"Having grown up locally and now working in Riverstone, I felt it was important to connect with the community as we look after one another," he said.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged businesses, it has impacted the way students learn, and it is important education is not overlooked.

"We cannot let COVID-19 impact children's learning," Mr Kumar said. "In any trade or skill, it is so important to be able to learn and adapt to the challenges we face, and our ability to do this starts at school."

As a thank you for Mr Kumar’s generosity, the school's Principal and Deputy Principal gave Mr Kumar an exclusive tour of its new learning building.

"The new learning building was incredible. It gave me an insight into how schools are changing and adapting. The facility felt open and interactive, and there was one section that made me feel like I was at a TED Talk.

“It’s a very impressive school and an important part of our community."
