LJ Hooker and Humpty Dumpty foundations help Westmead Hospital

The LJ Hooker Foundation and Humpty Dumpty Foundation made a significant difference to the lives of children in western Sydney today.

LJ Hooker Foundation representatives, including CEO Grant Harrod, along with Humpty Dumpty Foundation Founder and Executive Chairman Paul Francis OAM, presented Westmead Hospital’s Nurse Unit Manager Carolyn Tranter with the donation of a Jaundice Meter valued at $9,075 to the Maternity Ward.

To mark the inaugural donation to Westmead Hospital, the LJ Hooker Foundation presented the Humpty Dumpty Foundation with a donor plaque.

Jaundice, or yellowing of the skin and eyes, occurs in approximately 50% of full-term and 80% of pre-term babies in their first week of life.  It is often an indication of underlying symptoms and as a result, screening of babies for jaundice efficiently and effectively is vital.  Unlike a traditional blood test, the Jaundice Meter is non-invasive and provides results in minutes rather than hours.

Mr Harrod said: “On any given weekend, LJ Hooker teams around the country are fundraising for our charity partners or local causes to make a tangible difference in the communities in which they live and work”.

“The LJ Hooker Foundation was launched to consolidate the funds raised through these grass roots activities and identify worthy beneficiaries in the community.  The LJ Hooker Foundation is proud to support the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, which will help channel the results of our fundraising efforts to in-need medical equipment in hospitals across Australia.

“Through the LJ Hooker Foundation, our offices can nominate their local public hospital and Humpty will source an item on their wish list – so money raised by the office will go directly back to their local hospital and make a difference to local children in need.  The donation of the Jaundice Meter to Westmead Hospital is a great example of this.”

“We are thrilled to be a newly appointed beneficiary of the LJ Hooker Foundation.  The LJ Hooker Foundation’s commitment to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation means together we can make a significant difference right across Australia.  The LJ Hooker Foundation’s support of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation ensures medical professionals have access to medical equipment that is quite often life-saving and can assist them to treat and care for young Australian lives.

On behalf of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, the medical professionals and the kids who will benefit from improved outcomes because of this equipment, I say thank you to the LJ Hooker Foundation for this contribution to Westmead Hospital,” said Paul Francis OAM, Humpty Dumpty Foundation Founder and Executive Chairman.
