LJ Hooker Foundation donates $200,000 to those in need

LJ Hooker Foundation, the charitable arm of the LJ Hooker network, has donated almost $200,000 to help those in need this year, including charities Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis, Share the Dignity and the Australian Red Cross.

The LJ Hooker Foundation, which has raised more than $8 million since inception, helps LJ Hooker offices engage with their local communities and boost social impact.

Most recently, in the wake of the devastating bushfires sweeping the east coast of Australia, LJ Hooker Foundation launched a bushfire appeal.

“While this situation is still unfolding, we wanted to show our support by launching the LJ Hooker Bushfire Appeal, which backs the incredible efforts of the Australian Red Cross,” said LJ Hooker Foundation spokesperson, Sarah Dickson.

“Putting people first is at the heart of everything we do, and we know this is a challenging and confronting time for affected communities.”

The LJ Hooker Foundation also rallies for essential in-kind donations like goods, services and time.

In October and November, LJ Hooker offices backed Share the Dignity’s #itsinthebag donation drive. In total, offices donated 851 bags filled with personal care items to aid women and teenagers at risk around the country.

“We’re thrilled with the outstanding response from our network in supporting the donation drive. It just goes to show that people want to contribute, big or small, to support their community in a meaningful way,” she said.

For LJ Hooker Foundation’s primary charity partner, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, 14 pieces of equipment were donated to Paediatric Wards, Neonatal Units, Maternity and Emergency Departments in hospitals across Australia.

Fundraising under the LJ Hooker Foundation also safeguards offices.

“A little-known fact regarding fundraising is that Fair Trading NSW, and its counterparts in most states and territories, requires offices to have an ‘authority to fundraise’ when they appeal to their community for funds,” Mrs Dickson said.

“The LJ Hooker Foundation holds these authorities for them so when they use its customisable collateral and donations portal it ensures offices are compliant.”

Rochelle Courtenay, Founder of Share the Dignity, said the support of LJ Hooker and its Foundation is immeasurable.

“Share the Dignity is delighted to have received so many bags from LJ Hooker Foundation and LJ Hooker offices. When we all care, we make a difference.

“It’s wonderful that the people of LJ Hooker Foundation share our passion for helping people in need.”
