Agency consolidation is the way of the future
Three of the peninsula’s largest real estate agencies have merged to create a super group, the ‘LJ Hooker Northern Beaches Group’, comprising of LJ Hooker’s Avalon, Newport and Palm Beach offices.
Business leaders Gordan Spring, David Edwards, Tom Mackay and Peter Robinson said the group is a strategic partnership that will help bolster their market presence in one of the most valuable residential peninsulas across NSW.
“This opportunity arose when David Mackay, who’s been the Principal of LJ Hooker Avalon and LJ Hooker Palm Beach for almost 30 years, started considering his succession plan.
“That’s when Tom, David’s son, Peter, David (Edwards) and I got together to discuss joining forces, which just goes to show the strength of the LJ Hooker brand and network.
“We very quickly saw the opportunity in combining our resources, capability and expertise to better service our customers. It also allowed Tom to step up into a leadership position, as Co-Principal, for the business and team he knows inside out.
“The synergy and crossover within the group is exciting because we can now offer our customers the collective services of three large teams across three successful agencies – that’s three different offices working to find vendors the right buyer and buyers the right property.
“The consolidation is also a good marriage of fresh talent and experienced owners and agents, providing ample opportunity for mentoring and succession planning, which will help future-proof our businesses.
“Our exceptional results, service and focus on innovation have earned us a reputation as market leaders in the premium property sector; and this move cements our leadership position in the northern beaches market,” Mr Spring said.
Mr (Tom) Mackay said being part of the leadership group of LJ Hooker Avalon is something he sees as an exciting new challenge.
“Continuing the family legacy is very important to me and feel that the new direction of our business will be great for LJ Hooker and real estate on the Northern Beaches,” he said.
LJ Hooker Network Chief Graeme Hyde praised the business leaders’ forward-thinking of creating a super cell.
“The Pittwater corridor from Palm Beach to Mona Vale is a dynamic market that boasts some of Australia’s most exclusive waterfronts to everything in between. It’s a highly sought-after market,” said Mr Hyde.
“Gordan, David, Tom and Peter’s decision to consolidate their offices, and collectively create one of the largest teams within the state, is the way of the future. It positions and sets them up for success in an ever-changing and competitive real estate landscape.
“It’s a significant business decision to create a super cell and underpins their commitment to the success of their staff, customers and the growth of the northern beaches area.”
