The Humpty Dumpty Foundation and the LJ Hooker Foundation will be making a difference to Royal Darwin Hospital with the donation of a Jaundice Detector, valued at $4,780, to the Women, Children & Youth Ward.

All babies are checked for jaundice (yellowing of the skin) on a daily basis. The Jaundice Detector is used to help clinicians determine jaundice levels through the skin without harming the baby.  If jaundice is left untreated there is a possibility of cerebral palsy, deafness and/or brain damage.

“We appreciate this wonderful donation of this equipment from LJ Hooker and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation which will help improve the efficiency of checking babies for jaundice, which can have very serious health impacts on babies,” said Department of Health, Chief Executive Professor Catherine Stoddart.

“Our team at LJ Hooker Darwin is proud to join the rest of our network partners in supporting the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to make a tangible difference in the communities in which we live and work,’’ said LJ Hooker Darwin Managing Director David Loy.

“Through the LJ Hooker Foundation, we’ve been able to work with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to identify and source medical equipment needed locally.  It means the money contributed by local businesses and community members is directly benefitting local children in need.  The donation of the Jaundice Detector to Royal Darwin Hospital is a great example of this.”

Paul Francis OAM, Humpty Dumpty Foundation Founder and Executive Chairman said: “LJ Hooker Foundation’s support of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and the local communities in which they operate is immeasurable.  Their support of families in Darwin means children have access to the latest medical equipment.  I applaud this contribution to Royal Darwin Hospital as it demonstrates LJ Hooker Foundation’s commitment to the wider community”.
