LJ Hooker Leppington has expanded its presence in the south west growth corridor unveiling a sleek new office in a prime retail area ahead of the opening of Western Sydney International Airport.

Principal Michael Cavagnino said the area which was once popular for lifestyle acreage buyers is being transformed following rezoning and is now popular with young couples, families and investors due to its affordability and accessibility.

Due to growing demand, their new office is located within the recently opened Leppington Village Shopping Centre which is considered a milestone in the development of the upcoming Leppington Town Centre.

“Leppington is set to become Sydney’s third city behind Parramatta - we have roads, rail and air transportation – you can’t get better than that for a location,” Mr Cavagnino said.

“The new shopping centre is attracting more locals and in turn greater exposure for us. We wanted to be able to facilitate sales closer to the Austral and this has picked up our profile to the north in areas such as Kemps Creek and Rossmore.”

The new LJ Hooker Leppington | Austral office, which also features a new boardroom, was officially opened last week by the Chief Executive Officer of the LJ Hooker Group, Christine Mikhael. It is situated 1km from the new Leppington train station and in a shopping centre that also includes Woolworths and 30 specialty stores including cafes and retailers as well as a new playground.

General Manager of Network, Stephen Mutton congratulated Mr Cavagnino on the strategic planning to target new markets emerging within the high-growth area ahead of the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport in 2026

“Michael is very passionate and dedicated to Sydney’s south-west – it has been an area that he has served for many years and as the area expands he will now be able to service more clients,” Mr Mutton said.

“For LJ Hooker to have a shop front in a high traffic area in such a rapidly changing area puts the brand front of mind and ensures that we are available for consumers.”

According to Planning NSW, Austal and Leppington will benefit from up to 17,350 new homes and local amenities close to transport following the rezoning. This also includes the train station, three neighbourhood centres, 135ha of open space and recreation areas, upgrades to major roads, and a new primary school and high school.

Mr Cavagnino opened an independent real estate office in Leppington back in 1999 and rebranded to LJ Hooker in 2011.

A long time south-west local, he admits he could never have foreseen the changes ahead for the area when he started selling real estate 25 years ago. Back then, buyers were looking for hobby farms and lifestyle estates but now the region is popular for its affordable homes priced well under the Sydney median value.

The ability to work from home is also driving sales in the area with families relocating from inner-city apartments to properties with a backyard, close to schools and transport.

“I joined LJ Hooker when it became apparent the transformation of the south-west corridor was going to become a reality – I needed to be aligned with a network that would help me grow into the future,” Mr Cavagnino said.

“People find comfort in the LJ Hooker brand – it is well known to them – and even our first home buyers remember it from their parent’s era.”
