Agency in Adelaide’s greater region is back to where it all began
A celebrated homecoming for LJ Hooker Aldinga | Seaford, located in Adelaide’s growing outer southern suburbs, which has returned to Australia’s most iconic real estate network.
Principal John McGarry said it is a full circle moment for the business to be rejoining LJ Hooker following a five-year departure to The Professional.
“I’m putting my old jumper back on and returning to where I’m most aligned and can truly thrive,” Mr McGarry said.
“LJ Hooker is a family orientated brand and there are many people still working in the network who I’m looking forward to reconnecting with over the coming months. We are excited to be back. ”
Head of Network Australia, Christopher Keating welcomed Mr McGarry’s decision to return to the brand. It also strengthens LJ Hooker’s presence in Adelaide’s affordable outer southern suburbs.
“It is great to be back working together with John and his team to deliver outstanding outcomes for our customers in the region,” he said.
“We share a vision for the success and growth of the business. While we have taken different paths in recent years, we’ve always maintained mutual respect. Together we are now focused on building a stronger future and unlocking new opportunities.”
Aldinga is situated 43km from the Adelaide CBD and attracts a mix of interest from investors, families and professionals. The suburb has a median house price of $880,000 up 5.4 per cent.
LJ Hooker has had a long history in Aldinga and Seaford area, with the office one of the first to be opened in South Australia. It had been owned by Mr McGarry’s father-in-law, although they never worked together. Mr McGarry joined as a sales agent in 1988 and took over ownership in 2000 where he expanded operations to three locations.
It was during the pandemic that Mr McGarry decided that it was time for a change of branding. After five years with The Professionals, he has now consolidated the business to one office. The newly rebranded LJ Hooker office will service the coast from Seaforth Meadows through to Sellicks Beach, and surrounding suburbs including near the wineries of McLaren Vale.
Mr McGarry credits principal of LJ Hooker Property Specialists Michael Fenn for sparking the idea of returning the network brand during Christmas catch-up.
“He was the one who put the idea of a homecoming to me, but I had been having similar thoughts, and it just went from there,” Mr McGarry said.
““The strength of the LJ Hooker brand and its referral network are drawcards. It also comes back to how it feels to be part of this team and for me, it is being around like-minded agents.
“My objective now is to re-establish the LJ Hooker brand in the southern region. We’ve built strong relationships with the market and conducted a lot of transactions over the course of this journey, so we will be looking to tap back into legacy business.”
